Adena Power Secures DOE Funding to Advance Sodium Battery for Wind Energy Integration

Adena Power, a pioneer in sodium-based energy storage, is thrilled to announce a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO) and Office of Electricity. This funding will accelerate the development of our sodium solid-state battery technology for seamless integration with wind energy systems.

Partnering with The Ohio State University and Accelerate Wind, we will create a groundbreaking hybrid wind-storage solution. By combining our long-duration, low-cost battery with wind power, we aim to enhance grid reliability, reduce costs, and accelerate the transition to a clean energy future.

“This collaboration is a pivotal step towards commercializing our sodium battery technology,” said Amanda Gibson, Project Lead at Adena Power. “We’re excited to leverage the expertise of our partners to create a truly impactful solution.”

Erika Boeing, CEO of Accelerate Wind, shared her enthusiasm: “We see immense potential in combining wind energy with Adena’s advanced battery technology. This partnership will help us optimize wind turbine performance and drive the industry forward.”

Adena Power’s sodium battery offers a sustainable, safe, and cost-effective alternative to lithium-ion batteries. By addressing the challenges of grid intermittency, our technology will contribute to a cleaner, more resilient energy grid.

We are grateful for the DOE’s support and look forward to achieving significant milestones in this project.
