Adena Power Selected to Present at the 2024 NREL Industry Growth Forum

One of 40 cleantech startups selected globally, Adena Power will present its sodium-based energy storage products to potential investors and other cleantech industry stakeholders.

Lewis Center, OH — (February 20, 2024) —Adena Power is proud to announce it was selected to present its sodium-based energy storage products to investors and industry representatives at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) 2024 Industry Growth Forum (IGF), May 1-3, in Denver, Colorado. The U.S. Department of Energy’s NREL hosts the IGF, now in its 29th year. It is one of the nation’s premier events for cleantech entrepreneurs and other industry experts. Adena Power earned the presentation spot from a field of more than 210 entrepreneurs following an extensive selection process.

Adena addresses all the limitations of conventional, molten sodium batteries and combines the energy density and roundtrip efficiency of Li-ion batteries with the safety and lifetime of flow batteries, resulting in a highly competitive energy storage solution.

Innovation centers like NREL build new models to aid key players in the energy innovation environment, and the IGF is a nexus for the industry. It completely sold out last year two weeks before the event and it is a one-of-a-kind, premier event for cleantech entrepreneurs, investors, and experts from industry and the public sector. A major feature is the session of one-on-one meetings between potential investors and innovators. NREL is the only U.S. federal laboratory dedicated to renewable energy and energy efficiency research.

“Adena team and I are thrilled to be selected to present at IGF this year,” exclaimed Nathan Cooley, Co-founder and CEO.  “Since the end of last year’s event, we have made it a goal to be requested to present at IGF.  We see the NREL Industry Growth Forum as the best climate tech startup event on the calendar.”

The forum is a one-of-a-kind opportunity in the cleantech space—the premier event for cleantech entrepreneurs, investors, and experts from industry and the public sector to build relationships, showcase innovative technologies, and identify business solutions. NREL facilitates connections between cutting-edge startups, including Adena Power, and motivated investors to drive innovation to market for impact. NREL is the only U.S. federal lab dedicated to renewable energy and energy efficiency research.

“The theme of this year’s IGF is ‘breaking ground,’ and I believe our presenters represent that well in a variety of different ways,” said NREL Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (IEC) Group Manager Katie Richardson. “From batteries to revolutionary software, these presenters will help us all break ground through innovation. There is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ deployment strategy as we continue the global transition to a cleaner energy future, and that’s why it’s crucial to be in the room at IGF 2024 to learn from peers in the industry.”

More than 165 investors could hold more than 2,000 meetings during the event.

About Adena Power:
Adena Power is an energy storage provider using domestic raw materials and manufacturing to deliver sodium batteries to commercial and industrial markets. After spending two years talking with utilities and renewable developers, we understand Li-ion will only get us so far and that the market needs battery solutions that are safer, have a flexible duration, and, most of all, have a lower installed cost. Adena is in the demonstration phase of this IP-protected energy storage solution and intends to launch its first product early in 2025.  For more information about Adena Power, please visit
